Why Cynical Prophet? Over the years, I’ve become more of a realistic idealist, critically examining the claims of others, while at the same time hoping for the best. Born in beautiful downtown Burbank, raised in Montana, and now in LA since 1967, I practiced Buddhism for around 14 years as a youth division leader.
I was always asking lots of questions as a seeker and leaders derogatorily claimed I was a Sharihotsu of sorts. After asking too many questions about finances, I found myself laying low because of threats at the end of the barrel of two guns and ended up in Japan. Following an accident in a railway station in Himeji, Japan in 1981 while studying landscape architecture and about to go on my second Buddhist pilgrimage to Mt. Fuji area, I found myself asking some serious questions about life. Where were the Buddhist gods that vowed to protect the votary of the Lotus sutra? etc. Since 1984, I have been a disciple of Jesus of Nazareth. What a journey it has been.
